When it comes to training philosophy, Chris is an advocate for consistent, steady training as the best path toward long term progress – there is a time and place to push your limits during a workout, but training should be approached thoughtfully and with intent.
Chris’ credentials include being certified as a personal trainer through ACE, a club level powerlifting coach through USAPL, and holds ranks of black belt in Judo and blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. In 2016 he set state records in powerlifting on the squat, bench press, deadlift, and the 3-lift total in the USAPL 66kg open division, and also earned a bronze medal at the Summer Judo Nationals.
Chris grew up in the west suburbs of Chicago. After high school he worked as an EMT and went to college to earn his associates. He moved to Portland at the end of 2013.
Regardless of if he is in the gym or not, you will barley ever see Chris without a coffee in his hand … unless he sets it down to enjoy a bowl of his favorite ramen (lots of great spots in Portland). When not powerlifting or grappling, Chris enjoys heading outside for a hike or catching an episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
