Travis Berger / Coach
Classes: Jiu Jitsu
Travis started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2008 under Crosley Gracie in Brentwood, CA. Travis was initially curious about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as a means of self-defense, but after taking a few classes he realized that it offered much more. When he started training he felt out of shape and inflexible, which made Jiu Jitsu feel both mentally and physically challenging. After training consistently he noticed improvements in almost every area of his life. In 2010 after two years of training Travis was awarded his Blue Belt by Crosley.
In 2011 Travis relocated to Portland and began pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering at PSU. He found Impact Jiu Jitsu and was blown away at the camaraderie and level of experience of everyone there. He liked how Impact had a welcoming atmosphere but at the same time it maintained a high level of competition. In 2014 Travis was awarded his purple belt by Michael Chapman and Armand Debruge.
Travis’ personal philosophy is that Jiu Jitsu can be done by everyone. He believes in basic techniques that apply not only to sport BJJ, but also to self-defense. His goal in teaching is to create a welcoming environment that is fun, educational and rewarding.
